I have always wanted to paint. Shortly before I retired from my job as a speech pathologist, I began to explore my interest in painting by taking studio art classes with Pat Rini Rohr. Later I moved on to individual lessons in drawing and painting from portrait artist PD Avallone. I have learned so much about art from my teacher. He helps me to develop my skills and inspires me to pursue my interest in drawing and painting. Painting helps me to gain a deeper understanding of my world. I enjoy observing nature, people and animals and depicting them on canvas. Composition and space are important elements in my art. I primarily use oil as a medium and utilize glazes to build layers of paint and depth of color. My goal in painting is to share a moment or create a mood using shape, light, shadow and color.
