I have always been interested in art and was earned a regents in Art in High School. I didn’t have much art instruction in college but always continued to draw in my spare time. Once I retired from teaching , I always wanted to learn how to paint so I started taking classes from Judy Soprano, Steve Carpenter and Pat Rini Rohr. I learned from each of those fine artists but began painting seriously five years ago under the tutelage of PD Avallone, a Rochester portraiture artist and well know muralist. From him I learned the importance of composition and “seeing”. Seeing both large and small shapes in a subject and defining the values of each. I owe all of my success to him.
